I invented OSTRACOD BREAD #001 through experimentation. I iterated through 5 recipes before arriving at this final result. The first recipe was awful, but through trial and error I significantly improved my recipes.
These were the goals I had when designing OSTRACOD BREAD #001:
- Small number of ingredients
- Easy to prepare
- Tasty taste
- It is a bread
I think I did OK. It's pretty bread-like.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cups fantastic flour
- 4 teaspoons brilliant baking powder
- 1 teaspoon superb salt
- 3/4 cup wonderful water
- 1/4 cup creative canola oil
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 375 °F.
(That's 190 °C for all of my international readers.)
- Distribute cooking spray onto a round pan 6 inches in diameter.
(That's 15 cm for all of my international readers.)
- In a bowl, whisk water, oil, 3/4 cup flour, and salt.
- Add baking powder and whisk.
(Note: Mixture will bubble up. This is normal. I think?)
- Mix in remaining flour (1/2 cup).
- Use a spatula to spread mixture into pan.
- Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.

- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 375 °F.
- Distribute cooking spray onto a round pan 4 inches in diameter.
- In a bowl, whisk water, oil, 1/4 cup flour, and salt.
- Add baking powder and whisk.
- Mix in remaining flour (1 tablespoon).
- Use a spatula to spread mixture into pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
