EXITIUM
NOTE: Sadly, the Exitium server is broken. We had some good times, and the memory of Exitium will live on. I may or may not make Exitium 1.0. If I do, then I will use a new server.
Exitium is a massively multiplayer online environment where users can explore a blocky 2D universe, build and share their own objects, and level up by battling users and enemies. The game runs in Flash on almost any desktop computer.
The picture below shows a map of the whole world (last updated: (7/3/09). The grid is 120 by 120 blocks. Each tiny square in the diagram represents a block, and each is given a pseudo-color representation:
The world is like a giant sandbox; people can build and delete whatever they want. Out of the chaos that people create comes a perpetually interesting and dynamic place to adventure in... Just don't expect to make a masterpiece which will last forever!
The client is currently version 0.3.3.
Version history:
0.3.3: Security has been added to prevent hackers from leveling themselves up or causing havoc. Users can type commas now, too.
0.3.2: By fixing the attack glitch, I accidentally let users gain thousands of XP! This is fixed... the messaging system has been improved slightly as well.
0.3.1: The glitch where users could not attack users is fixed. The infamous logout-login glitch is fixed, too.
0.3: Image resolution is now 16 by 16. Users can flip images, send messages across the grid and to users offline, teleportation (only to non-combat zone), and automatically generated in-world text.
0.2.1: Various minor bugs fixed.
0.2: Initial combat release. Various features added and minor bugs fixed. Users can now see who is online and information about each user. User can also click on in world objects to add them to their inventory.
0.1.1: Problems with redrawing the avatar addressed. Objects are no longer drawn twice in the same place.
0.1: Initial release.
